Hello good day and welcome to our comprehensive coverage of the summer transfer window in England. Yep, it’s the new, earlier, transfer deadline day.
The English top flight has decided that transfer business after the season begins is too much of a disruption and so, for the first time, the window closes before anyone gets on to the pitch.
Which leads to two problems.
1. A lot of clubs have barely seen some players since the World Cup ended.
2. The rest of Europe can still sign players for a couple of weeks.
So as per usual, Ghanaweb.com will be across every cough, spit, rumour, done deal and tantrum between now and when the window slams shut at 17:00
From a Ghanaian perspective, we will be keeping taps on the Jordan Ayew situation at Swansea. The Ghana international has refused to train and is said to have gone AWOL in order to force Swansea to sell to Crystal Palace.
Stay with us throughout the day for all the confirmed deals.
André Gomes is having a medical alongside Yerry Mina in Barcelona ahead of his loan move to Everton. Both deals will be done before the deadline.
Wolves have signed Leander Dendoncker from Anderlecht, on an initial season-long loan that will become permanent next summer for a fee in the region of £12m.
Ousmane Dembélé was directly involved in a goal once every 92.55 minutes for Barcelona across all competitions in 2017/18:
The low-down on Godin to United
It sounds like Manchester United have been played like a fiddle by Diego Godin and his agent. The timeline of this curious story, according to Sky, started with United being approached by Godin’s agent last week expressing the player’s desire to play at Old Trafford, United immediately making contact with Atletico with a generous offer, Atletico responding to the possibility of losing the Uruguayan by offering him a massive bumper new contract, and Godin chuckling heartily to himself as he put pen to paper.
It looks like Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico might be on the verge of joining Fulham on loan for the season. Obviously, he is a keeper with huge experience and pedigree, but I’m not sure I really see the sense in this move. We have already signed Fabri from Besiktas and we have Marcus Bettinelli, a young English talent who was exceptional in the Championship for us last season.
Whilst I always want to see the squad improved, it must be pretty disheartening for Marcus to potentially become third-choice after being so instrumental to our promotion. It just shows that in the Premier League, there isn’t much place for loyalty.
Jordan arrives at Palace
Jordan Ayew has just arrived at Crystal Palace offices in central London after having a medical earlier today.
Ayew top scored for Swansea last season with 11 goals but they were relegated from the Premier League nevertheless. He will join on a season-long loan.
Reports in Spain
Arsenal have made a €100m offer for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembélé. They have just under 3 hours to get the deal done.

The latest on Federico Fernandez
Swansea’s assistant manager, Billy Reid, has given an update on Federico Fernandez: “Fede has been here throughout pre-season and was excellent on Saturday, but he’s a player who sees his future elsewhere,” he said. “It’s not settled yet, but it looks like he will go to Newcastle.”
3 hours for the English transfer window to close. Some clubs have been active while others have been relaxed.
